Purpose

Hello Friend😊

How are you doing today!. We continue with our waiting series and we would be looking at PURPOSE.

However,  before we delve further, I hope you had a good night and are hopeful towards the day. Most importantly, I hope you have committed your day into the hands of the Lord.

Commit your works to the LORD [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].

Proverbs 16:3 AMP

I really love the Amplified version! It’s easy to begin the day without dedicating it to God, but remember that He cares about every part of our lives. Last year, I read one of Elizabeth George’s books, “A Woman After God’s Heart,” which emphasises the importance of daily surrender. Daily surrender entails committing your life to God each day, allowing Him to take the lead and being open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. When this is done sincerely, the impact is truly significant.

While you wait, I would like to ask: what has God placed on your heart? We often hear the question, “What is your purpose?” At one point, I found myself wishing I wouldn’t have to hear that again. But then I listened to a sermon by Rev. Laurie Idahosa, and she shared that when asked about purpose, we should respond that it’s to glorify Jesus. That resonated with me, and I mentioned to a friend during a call that this would be my new answer. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I’ve come to understand the depth of this statement. It became clear to me that:

“Every Christian’s purpose on Earth is to help reconcile others to Christ. As you begin this journey, with the Holy Spirit’s help, you’ll discover your unique role within the broader mission of reconciliation.”

This unique role often reveals itself through desires, nudges, or a sense of urgency to address a particular need, all aimed at glorifying God.  For example, if we look at the case of John Muller, after giving His life to Christ, He started studying, fellowshipping.   The more He knew of God, the more He wanted to share and reconcile men with God by the help and in-working of the Holy Spirit.   He preached, taught at any opportunity He got.  He started learning through personal revelation of Christ, to recognise God’s voice.   As he progressed in his journey, he had the desire and longing to help poor people.  Later, still on his common purpose (reconciling all to Christ), He discovered a need.   One poor orphan could not continue, and he prayed for help to do something to supply the temporal (earthly needs) of poor children (the particular, becoming more specific). That was the beginning! He then went on to build independent orphanages through prayer, faith in God.  He reconciled men to God, but He addressed a specific aspect of the reconciliation.  That was His purpose.

NOTE: This can only be made possible and clearer through the help of the Holy Spirit.  Spend time with God.  The Lord pours in as you pour out through the help of the Holy Spirit and your obedience to Him (yielding).  You cannot hold on and expect to pour in.

So, you might not have discovered the specific details (by the way, George Müller’s specific details became clearer when he married). But you must discover the general. Come to an understanding of who you are in Christ, go about your Father’s business, and then He can guide you to be yoked with the one who can help you on the journey of life.  Getting your life transformed into the image of Christ. Discovering who God is to you and not just who people say. A personal walk, discerning His voice and following and bearing fruits. Let your light so shine before men that they would see your good work and glorify your father in heaven (Matthew 5:16). The Lord delights in those who are fruitful, and He prunes them to bear more fruit (John 15:2)

Understanding your purpose is essential, especially when the desire for companionship is strong. Discovering what God has planned for your life is crucial before entering a relationship. If you are uncertain about who you are and where you are headed, it’s challenging to identify the right partner to join you on that journey. It’s important to recognise that a partner can significantly influence your path. They can either enhance your blessings or create obstacles to fulfilling your destiny. Knowing God’s plan for your life, having a relationship with Him will help you discern who is truly suitable to walk alongside you.

That’s why you do not just go into marriage based on looks or loneliness.  If not, you would anoint the wrong king.  You go into it with the Lord, He knows the future from the end, and He alone knows who can run the journey of life with you.  Marriage is for destiny, not only for pleasure.

So please as you wait, spend time with God.  Get to know him like really know Him. Don’t just wait for when its time to ask Him about who to marry, that you suddenly realise He speaks. He is not just concerned about one aspect of your life; He is concerned about every aspect. Watch out for the impressions in your spirit.  Write it down.

Then the Lord answered me and said ‘write the vision and engrave it plainly on (clay) tablets, so that the one who reads it will run. For the vision is yet for the appointed (future) time, it hurries toward the goal (of fulfilment); it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait (patiently) for it. Because it will not delay’’

Habakkuk 2:2-3

Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit;

‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you what path to take.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

Thou would keep Him in perfect peace whose heart is stayed on thee for He trusteth in thee.

Isaiah 26: 3 (KJV)

and, the counsel of people you are convinced have a relationship with God;

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Proverbs 11: 4 KJV

Without good direction, people lose their way; the more wise counsel you follow, the better your chances.

Proverbs 11: 4 MSG

Do not just wait to come and be married off. Wait with God and He would hand you to the person who would enable you blossom and bloom in His will. He will also make you someone who can enable your partner blossom and bloom (it goes both ways). As you are becoming in Christ, the person is becoming too. Hence when you come together, it is two whole people who know God and can partner with Him to walk in alignment with His plan. To go in the volume of what has been written in the books.

May the peace of God that transcends all understanding fill your heart in Jesus name and may you heart be attuned to the unforced rhythm of grace and the voice of the Holy Spirit. May His love become real to you in Jesus name.

Shalom.
